Much like Hepatitis B, this infection is spread through bodily fluids such as blood. 30% of individuals who contract type C will see the disease cleared from their body within a year. If it 555doesn’t clear, Type C could become a chronic condition. Causes of infection can range from using unsterilized tattoo equipment to blood transfusions and needle stick injuries.

People who have Hepatitis C will feel better if they eat a well-balanced diet, exercise frequently, and avoid drinking alcohol and using drugs (you should generally avoid using drugs, just by the way).

Common Symptoms:

  • General feeling of unwellness
  • Tiredness
  • Fatigue
  • Pain in the upper right sector of the abdomen
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Muscle aches

Diagnosis:

  • Antibody blood test

Over a period of 18 years, people with chronic Hep C (that is 6 months or more) can develop cirrhosis and liver fibrosis. Antiviral drugs cure Hep C in 95% of individuals who undergo treatment.
