Ureaplasma

Ureaplasma

Spread mostly through unprotected sexual intercourse, this batch of bacteria attacks healthy tissue and causes inflammation. A colony of bacteria is created which can lead to widespread infection. Despite it being rare, there are countless individuals that unfortunately catch this nasty bug every year. Protection is always the answer, so stock up before it is too late!

Common Symptoms:

  • Vaginal or penile discharge
  • Pain during urination
  • An unpleasant vaginal odour

Diagnosis:

  • Cervical Swab
  • Urine sample

Most importantly, this disease can increase your likelihood for kidney stones, premature labour, and respiratory diseases in new-born babies.

Antibiotics are usually the sure-fire way of treating patients infected with Ureaplasma. The main risk with this disease is when women are pregnant – as it could cause complications for the unborn child. It is still best to use protection even when you are pregnant (it might seem counter-productive at the time but trust us anyway).

Inflammation in your body might also cause preterm delivery. Let us get serious. Having complications when delivering your child could be traumatic, and if the baby survives, he or she might sit with a bevy of health complications. Do what you need to be safe in all situations!
